Summer Expressive Arts Series

Workshops will be facilitated by Tyler Deal of Blue Ridge EXA & hosted by Boone Studio Collective. We invite you to immerse yourself in an environment designed to inspire and encourage. Whether you're a beginner, seasoned artist or simply curious, these workshops are for anyone eager to explore the relationship with oneself through creativity.

This workshop series invites you to embark on a transformative journey of self-expression, exploration, and discovery. During these sessions we will explore the themes of Shadow - Eclipse - Emergence. Each session will feature a different art medium related to what is happening in the natural world. All art materials are provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a sketchbook or journal and something to write with.

April 21st’s workshop will be an exploration into Shadow energy and aligning with what has been happening in the natural world. What has the darkness of winter brought to the surface eager for you to notice? What parts of yourself feel like they are pushed into the black and lacking the shades of grey that create the three dimensionality of our authentic selves?

May 19th's workshop will be an exploration into Eclipse energy and tuning in to the natural world. Have you found yourself stuck in black and white thinking as we approach summer? What resides in your path of totality? How does the world outside of that path garner your attention? Do parts of yourself feel like they have to choose? What would it look like to hold space for all of your interests and demands on your time in a more balanced and intentional way? Come explore how these thoughts might show up in your world through watercolor, sumi-e ink and mixed media. All materials are provided.

June 23rd’s workshop will explore the energy of Emergence as we head into full blown summer. How do you choose what to lay down at your feet when you emerge from the dark? What dreams are ready to be exposed to the daylight? When we do the deep dives into our expressive work everything can get quiet and more easily understood. How do we hang on to this sense of balance and peace as we emerge from the creative space into the more full space of our lives with all its demands, laughter, smiles and at times chaos?
